New solutions from Starlinger take the woven sack to a new level, with lamination of a film printed in ultra high quality onto the tubular or flat fabric. Depending on the properties of fabric and film, the polypropylene fabric is bonded together with a reverse-printed OPP film by means of an extrusion lamination process during which a special tie layer is applied. The resulting material offers superb barrier properties, for example for keeping odors and oils inside the sack and for preventing chemical reactions with air. These characteristics make the sack particularly suitable for packaging pet food.

High resolution printing and the seamless lamination possible with this type of sack make it ideal for applications where the visual properties of the package are instrumental in selling the product. Especially in industrial countries, new markets for “branded sacks” are opening up and generating fast-growing demand.
